No, not a child, not yet :) We adopted a new canine! After many tears and a whole lot of second guessing we decided to find a new home for our gorgeous lab Laces.
She just needed a home where she could be "busy" and it was hard on her and us keeping her as an inside dog. Luckily after much prayer we found a great family friend guy in Beaver with 50 acres, a stream and pond, a little boy who needs a rombunctious friend, and other dogs to romp around with! It was the perfect fit for Laces, even as heart braking as it was for us. She's been our companion, our baby, our obsession, our comedian, our frustration and our joy:) But we know she will be in DOG HEAVEN.
That was just after Christmas, the most miserable Christmas activity ever. After we sortof recovered we decided we just couldn't have a quiet house and neeeded a little furry friend to keep us company. So I searched the internet and found a rescue agency for cocker spaniels - and this little guy! They are a fostering/adoption agency and let us take him home as his 'foster parents' with the option to change our mind or try a different dog if we needed, it was reassuring to say the least. But we think he is a perfect fit! We are absolutely delighted!

He is a 4 yr old tan & white party mix spaniel, the agency named him Bistro.. eh, we changed it to BENTLEY. His mannerisms and features are perfectly depicted by the little cocker from "Lady & the Tramp". He is super sweet and cuddly, bounces after a ball, interested in anything we are doing, and happiest having someone give his ears a rub. He came fully potty trained and crate trained - wow! He is happier than ever to sleep in his crate while we are away from home, doesn't even cry! And he loves curling up in there to sleep. He's just adorable and we couldn't be more pleased. We never thought we'd like a small dog.. we were wrong.

oh how cute!! its nice that he came trained even if he was a little dirty and smelly. and you guys are trained dog parents. perfect!! he really is adorable and Bentley is a solid dog name. i like it.
Hi Shelly, Hey, your story about giving up laces made me kinda sad for you guys. But, it sounds like she'll love living in that new place too alot in beaver. I love your new puppy. So cute. Your post about going to the nutcracker was so fun to read. Your fancy dinner, the big-haired lady sitting in front of you at the program, and your cute little ballet dancer christmas tree ornament. So much fun....all of it. And yes, you do have a good hubby to take you to those fancy and fun things! It's good to catch up with your going-on's.
Oh how fun! Ray is totally jealous. He says Bentley looks a lot like Mickey did. The poor guy... but I think this might have made him jealous enough that he might consider letting us get a dog now. Good job guys! Haha but seriously, Bentley is super cute. Congrats on the new addition to the family :)
Oh Shelly I am so sorry bout Laces...that had to be so hard for you two! I love Bently already though and i am so glad he got to come to such a happy home! You guys look as gorgeous as ever! We miss you two.
I'm so glad that you were able to find another dog, since the laces situation was just so sad :( But he looks super cute and sweet and I hope that he will make a great addition to your little family :)
Smelly, I'm sad u had to give up laces but I bet he will love his new home it sounds like so much fun for him. Bentley is so darling! I miss you tons! Good luck with the new puppy, love you!
ahhh, sooo cute! I must admit that I am excited the next addition will be human though. So,... a dog that looked like Garrett and was athletic and a dog that looks like Shelly and is quiet. hmmmm. :) What will the babies be?
xoxox
Kim told me about Laces, I was bummed out for you two. But this little Bentley guy looks like a good fit. I didn't know that they had adoption/foster situations for dogs. That sounds like such a great idea. Jake and I can never decide what kind of dog we want to get, each week we pick another breed. Doesn't matter though cause we aren't moving into an establishment where we can have dogs for quite some time. Let us know when that fourth member of your family comes about!
I love your new little puppy! and its probably a good thing that you changed his name from BISTRO...haha...what an interesting name choice..Bentley is way cuter! And i guess its always a plus that he came trained and ready to play too right?
Hi Kids...He is SO CUTE! I'm so glad I got to see a picture of him. I too am pretty jealous. I love his name and can't wait to meet him soon...may Feb. 6th. Love Mom-Cindy
